The Incheon Asia Art Show (IAAS), which opens on the 23rd, will feature works by modern art masters such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Alberto Giacometti, Damien Hirst, and Amedeo Modigliani.
The Cuban Art Center (CEO Cha Hyo-jun), which is preparing for a traveling exhibition starting in Seoul in December and traveling to Singapore and elsewhere, has decided to showcase for the first time at the Incheon Asia Art Show about 60 of the 100 works by modern artists that arrived in Korea first. It was done.
Including 16 works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, who appeared in New York like a comet in the 1980s and died at the young age of 28, 6 works by Keith Haring from 1985 and 1986, 3 works by Giacometti, and Damien Hirst’s Levi’s jeans series. One of Modigliani’s prints and three sketches are on display.
△Jean-Michel Basquiat is a graffiti artist who is famous for sublimating pop art-style graffiti into art that embodies the spirit of resistance. He was called the Black Picasso for expressing his black identity, and he always drew a crown as his signature.
△ Keith Haring is also a graffiti artist and is in a unique position along with Jean-Michel Basquiat. He worked on the streets and subways, combining art and commerce to convey cultural diversity and social messages in a unique way.
△ Modigliani is an Italian painter. He mainly painted nudes and portraits of poor people and women. It is characterized by its beauty expressed through its long, thin neck and unique face. This is the third time his drawing work has been shown in Korea following Europe and Singapore, and his print work ‘Middle of Life’ is also being exhibited.
Cha, CEO of the Cuban Art Center, said, “The Modigliani works were transported from Italy over a period of four months, and most of the Keith Haring works come from New York, USA.” He added, “Incheon is the closest place for overseas users and has high accessibility to Seoul. “After seeing the infinite possibilities of , we decided to exhibit the leading works,” he said.
Most of these works were auctioned for between 3 and 10 billion won, including one priced at 10 billion won per piece. These are mostly works commissioned for exhibition in Korea by collectors in the United States, Japan, and Europe.
The Incheon Asia Art Show will be held at Songdo Convensia for four days from the 23rd (Thursday) to the 26th (Sunday).
