Go to bed early, wake up early, and make use of the morning hours. For people worth over KRW 10 billion, the annual reading amount is 20. They mainly read books in the humanities and social sciences rather than novels.

It was found that rich people in Korea have a high rate of reading newspapers or exercising before starting their day. In particular, the ‘super rich’ with assets of more than 10 billion won also had a high reading volume of more than 20 books per year.

According to the ‘2024 Korea Wealth Report’ published by Hana Financial Management Research Institute on the 25th, the average sleep time of rich people in Korea was 7.3 hours. This means they sleep 30 minutes less than the general public. Bedtime was approximately 11:30 PM, usually not past midnight.

They tended to follow their own ‘morning routine’ using the morning hours. I usually read paper newspapers or news, made plans for the day, and enjoyed reading, exercising, or walking. The response that they read the morning newspaper to get the news was 33%, which was much higher than the general public (18%), and this percentage increased as the size of assets increased. Areas of interest: While the general public enjoys entertainment, sports, and society, the rich showed high interest in economy, politics, and lifestyle culture, in that order.

Regarding reading, the general public read about 6 books a year, but the rich read more than 10 books. Rich people with more than 10 billion won in financial assets read about 20 books, twice as many.

In terms of fields, unlike the general public who prefer novels and self-help books, rich people mainly read fields of humanities and social studies that can satisfy their intellectual desires. The institute added, “For the rich, reading was both a part of their daily routine and also a form of relaxation.”

Another difference in life between the rich and the general public is ‘family relationships’. While only half of the general public responded positively, seven out of ten rich people said they were satisfied with their family relationships. When it comes to the number of times a week they eat with their family, 7 out of 10 rich people said ‘three or more times a week’ and 40% said ‘almost every day’. In the case of the general public, the proportion of ‘almost none’ reached 20%.
