According to the AFP news agency and the French broadcaster BFMTV on the 25th (local time), French prosecutors said that French singer Kendzy Gireque (27), who recently suffered a gunshot wound, faked suicide to scare her lover who had threatened to leave her.

Jirek, the winner of the French version of the music competition survival program ‘The Voice’, was found with a wound to his chest in a caravan at a camping site in Biscarros, southwestern France, on the 22nd. According to eyewitnesses, his wife and daughter were also reportedly in the caravan.

Olivier Jansen, the prosecutor in charge of the case, explained that Zireck “wanted to fake suicide in order to scare his wife, who was threatening to leave him,” and that “in a sense, he was pretending to commit suicide.”

Jansen added that the conflict between him and his wife began when Zirek developed alcoholism. At the time of the incident, Jirek’s drug test results showed high blood alcohol and cocaine levels.

According to Zireke’s wife, he had previously said he would commit suicide or cut his own throat during an argument.

Jirek is said to have explained to rescuers at the scene of the incident that he accidentally shot himself while repairing a Colt 45 automatic pistol purchased at a junk shop. French prosecutors began searching the scene for the possibility of an intrusion or murder, but the gun-related case was dismissed after Jirek’s confession, prosecutors said.

Prosecutor Jansen said, “Zirek takes responsibility for what he did and is very remorseful,” and added, “The investigation will be discontinued unless new elements are discovered.” The prosecution also added that there was no evidence that anyone else was involved in this incident. Jirek is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Jirek, who has released five albums so far, has established himself as a popular singer in France, selling a total of more than 5.5 million copies. It is reported that she and her current wife have been living together in Paris, France since 2020 after dating for six years.
