It is natural to feel lonely as you get older. As life progresses, human relationships become disconnected and simplified due to various factors. Humans are essentially beings who live in social relationships. In many cases, one’s loneliness stems from unhealthy interpersonal relationships. Human relationships are a very important factor in social, emotional, and physical health.
Maintaining good interpersonal relationships is the basis and essence of how humans live happily.
An interpersonal relationship is a social connection or partnership between two or more people. Different types of interpersonal relationships include networks of partners, loved ones, family, close friends, acquaintances, colleagues, and many other people who make up our social connections in life.
Through this article, we will look at the importance and ways to have smooth interpersonal relationships with the numerous people involved in one’s life.

One.Why are interpersonal relationships important?
Our lives take place within very complex human relationships and social structures. Why are interpersonal relationships so important? Research shows that interpersonal relationships can have many important benefits for physical and mental health.
According to the American Psychological Association, the benefits of good interpersonal relationships are as follows: First, loneliness can be overcome. Second, recovery from stress increases. Third, it is very helpful in preventing depression and suicide. Fourth, risk factors for cardiovascular disease are reduced. Fifth, it is a great help in improving lifespan.
Having strong interpersonal relationships provides a lot of motivation to help you stay healthy. For example, people who participate more socially are more likely to eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and avoid smoking.

2. What are the ways to maintain beautiful interpersonal relationships?
2-1 Open your heart to the other person (openness).
According to Sprecher S, in order to form and maintain good relationships with other people, we must be able to understand each other well. Is this who they are? How have you been living? When personal information is shared with an open mind, open relationships develop. Just as it is important for the other person to open their heart to you, it is also important to open your heart to the other person first. You must be willing to accept yourself and the other person and share details about your experiences, feelings, and opinions.
Kreiner H says that getting to know each other begins with the mutual sharing of open minds. Additionally, bonds and intimacy are formed and deepened through the process of getting to know and understand each other. Therefore, to maintain good interpersonal relationships, it is important to be open to people.
It is never easy to tell others about your situation or to accept someone else’s situation. However, it is not easy to develop deep trust or friendship if people do not share important information about what happens in their lives with each other. Open yourself and others will open their hearts too.

2-2 In interpersonal relationships, recognize and respect each other’s boundaries (privacy) (boundaries).
Being open to others in no way means that others should have unrestricted access to your thoughts, emotions, time, or materials. Healthy boundaries are an important foundation for any smooth relationship. It is important and necessary not only to set these boundaries wisely, but also to enforce them.
Boundaries can be defined and understood as what we are willing to accept in human relationships. These boundaries are about managing each other’s values, expectations, and limitations.
Interpersonal boundaries may seem like limits to the amount of time you spend together or your expectations of how much time you will spend with each other. It can also include how much you are willing to share about yourself emotionally, physically, and even digitally.
