◇Periorphitis
If something red appears only around the corners of your mouth, it may be perioralitis. Periorphitis is commonly experienced by women in their 20s to 40s during menstruation. It becomes red and inflamed and hurts when touched. Dead skin cells keep rising, causing the makeup to flake and even fester. The size of the inflammation is small, but the surrounding area becomes red, as if grains of sand have been sprinkled. Sometimes it burns, but it doesn’t itch like seborrheic dermatitis. It is prone to recurrence and may become chronic. Take oral antibiotics to reduce inflammation and apply sebum removers and liquid medicine. Deep cleanse at least once a week, tighten pores with an astringent, or apply antibiotic ointment if your skin is red and bruised. Be sure to apply products that can provide moisture to your skin, such as cream or moisturizer.
◇Seborrheic dermatitis
If red spots and dandruff appear on hair that secretes a lot of sebum, it is seborrheic dermatitis. Among sex hormones, androgens can cause seborrheic dermatitis. As you age, sex hormones decrease and symptoms may be alleviated, but this is not true for all. In hospitals, seborrheic dermatitis is treated using antifungal agents. However, efforts should be made to alleviate seborrheic dermatitis during daily life. To relieve seborrheic dermatitis, it is helpful to use a shampoo that inhibits Malassezia bacteria, which causes and worsens dead skin cells. Be careful when washing your hair with hot water, as it can dry out the scalp and worsen symptoms.
