(Ulsan = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Geun-joo = “I had no choice but to solve it within the time limit. I think it was helpful to set my mind to do it calmly.”

Kwon Ha-eun (18), a 3rd grader at Hyundai Chungwoon High School who received a perfect score in the 2023 College Scholastic Ability Test, revealed the secret in a phone call with Yonhap News on the 9th, saying, “I focused on solving one problem, one problem at a time.”

Kwon Yang spent his high school life in the school dormitory.

Due to Corona 19, going out was prohibited even on weekends, so I could not attend the academy.

He said that he did not study differently from other students.

He said, “It was about solving a lot of problem books,” and “I solved the wrong problems repeatedly in the difficult Korean language, and I found and solved new types of various problems in scientific inquiry.”

He added, “There are many friends around me who are preparing for the regular exam, so everyone studied hard.”

Head teacher Koo Sang-woo explained, “Ha-eun has been studying hard.”

Kwon Yang said that she melted away the stress accumulated from studying by chatting with friends or consulting about her worries.

After entering high school, I was active in a singing club until my second year, so I sometimes went to the piano room and sang songs when I was in a hurry.

I tried not to panic on the day of the test.

It was because I had an experience of not being able to solve all the questions in time after being embarrassed by difficult questions during mock exams.

In this exam, he faced a question that he could not find the answer to even after counting three times, but he said he had to check it again and picked out the answer while repeating that he had to stay calm.

He dreams of becoming a doctor.

Kwon Yang said, “Until the lower grades of elementary school, I often ended up in the hospital because of my respiratory problems.”

Kwon Yang is currently applying to Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Sungkyunkwan University medical schools.

In this exam, there were a total of three students with perfect scores, including Kwon Yang, two current students, and one repeat student.
