At around 8:10 p.m. on the 16th, test takers were preparing to take the 2024 College Scholastic Ability Test. News 1

While a student was caught cheating while taking the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), the student’s parents came to the school where the supervisor who caught the cheating was working and caused an uproar.

According to the Seoul Teachers’ Union on the 21st, a test taker who was taking the college entrance exam at a school in Seoul on the 16th tried to mark the exam after the bell rang. As a result, the supervisor caught the student cheating.

Afterwards, the parents of the student in question went to the school where the supervisor worked and started a one-person protest with the intention of ‘resign from teaching’ from the day after the CSAT. It is known that the supervisor’s location and work location are kept strictly confidential, but for some reason, the parents found out about this.

The test taker reportedly claimed that the invigilator overpowered him even though he put down his pen as soon as the bell rang.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education took personal protection measures, including security, for the supervisor at the school’s request. However, it is reported that this did not stop the one-person protest by parents.

Regarding this incident, Daejin Jang, senior vice president of the Seoul Teachers’ Union, said, “The CSAT proctor’s manual prepared by the Ministry of Education does not specify what to do if a proctor is attacked by a parent. He argued, “Security services can only be received when teaching rights are violated, and standards must be established at the Ministry of Education level.”

He went on to say, “There are no protection measures for cases like the teacher in question,” and added, “Please implement active protection measures and prepare measures.”
