(Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do = Yonhap News) Reporter Ji-woong Yang = Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do announced on the 24th that it plans to connect 480 households in Bongpo-ri, Toseong-myeon to the city gas pipeline network by October in order to improve the energy welfare of residents.

This is a project that will cost 1.079 billion won to install a gas pipe with a total length of 2,030 m, allowing 480 households that have not been supplied with city gas to benefit.

To this end, the county recently held an information session for residents on the early supply of city gas to downtown Toseong-myeon at the Bongpo-ri Village Hall together with Chambit City Gas.

Participants presented various opinions after receiving an explanation of the project overview and progress, city gas supply status, project pros and cons, supply pipe installation plan, city gas application process, and costs borne by residents.

Since 2017, the county has been providing city gas to 1,772 households by spending 6.2 billion won to lay 10,968 meters of supply pipes, starting in Ganseong-eup.

The city gas penetration rate in Goseong area is 11.97%, which is very low compared to the Gangwon area average of 55.4%.

The county is making efforts to secure national budget by taking advantage of the special characteristics of border areas to provide benefits to Geojin-eup, Hyeonnae-myeon, and Jukwang-myeon, areas where city gas is not supplied.

County Governor Ham Myeong-jun said, “We will supply city gas to the Cheonjin and Bongpo-ri areas to reduce fuel costs for residents,” and added, “We expect that this will greatly contribute to building a pleasant urban environment and revitalizing the local economy.”
