Lotte Chilsung wins the Prime Minister’s Award at the ‘Korea Packaging Competition’ for its transparent beer package

Lotte Chilsung (005300)The beverage announced on the 24th that it received the Prime Minister’s Award for transparent beer packaging at the 18th Korea Packaging Competition.

The Korea Packaging Daejeon is an event hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Packaging Technology Center of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. It has been held since 2007 and marks its 18th anniversary this year. This event was held the day before (23rd) at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Lotte Chilsung Beverage won the Prime Minister’s Award and the Korea Productivity Technology Research Institute Director’s Award by submitting recyclable single-material transparent beer PET and ‘Chilsung Cider Full-Recycle Package’.

Transparent beer PET, which received the Prime Minister’s Award, is a single-material transparent beer packaging material that maintains beer quality and is recyclable by applying an oxygen blocker and full label. We improved on the fact that existing colored beer PET was difficult to recycle as it was a composite material container.

The package that received the Productivity Technology Research Institute Director’s Award used some recycled raw materials in the container, lid, and film packaging material, and the lid used chemically recycled raw materials. In addition, excellent quality was secured by an accredited inspection agency.

An official from Lotte Chilsung Beverage said, “Crush Transparent Beer PET is a culmination of packaging technology created through numerous tests over a long period of time for ease of recycling,” and added, “We will continue to lead sustainable change through the development of eco-friendly packaging.”
