It was announced on the 24th that the 2024 Korea Science Festival, which will enjoy science and technology R&D achievements and communicate through science, will be held from the 25th to the 28th at the Daejeon Expo Citizen’s Plaza and the Expo Science Park.

This event, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Daejeon City, celebrates its 28th anniversary this year and will be held by combining the Korea Science Festival, which focuses on experiencing science and technology culture, and the Korea Science and Technology Exhibition, which focuses on exhibitions of national strategic technology research results.

The festival opens with the theme of the world’s largest laboratory, meaning that the moment we look at the world with curiosity, we all become inquiring scientists and our daily lives are closely related to science.

The science festival program is created and operated in five spaces according to age and type, including a science museum, science lounge, science theme park, science laboratory, and science talk talk, so that all citizens, from children to adults, can enjoy.

The Science Museum provides a glance at cutting-edge technologies and products from representative companies in 12 strategic national technology fields, including space, quantum, and artificial intelligence, and introduces the latest R&D research results from government-funded research institutes.

The Science Lounge utilizes the Hanbat Arboretum’s circular plaza to create special rest areas such as a science picnic, a science story with 300 pandas, and a science gallery so that visitors can spend time healing and recharging. The science theme park consists of a space filled with things to enjoy, such as programs for adults and couples, a laser show using the night scenery, a night market with science performances, a science cafe, and a science library.

The science laboratory creates an outdoor space as a youth-only laboratory and operates a variety of science and technology culture experience programs such as a giant zero gravity experience device, a science escape room, and an open stage, including the Creative Foundation, science museum, and research institute.

Science Talk Talk uses the main stage to run lectures and performance programs such as guest lectures by star scientists, science musicals, and science magic concerts throughout the event period, providing time to connect science and the public and communicate with science.

In addition, side events include an open science tour of the Daedeok Special District Research Institute, Science Village Eoullim Madang, Science Character Parade, and Daejeon Museum of Art Art Free Market Zone.

Mayor Lee Jang-woo said, “The Korea Science Festival, a national event, will be held in Daejeon, a city of science, for the first time in a non-metropolitan area for two consecutive years. I hope citizens will visit and experience science, culture, and art.”
