Rep. Lee Woo-cheong (Gimcheon 2, People Power Party) of the Construction and Fire Protection Committee of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council proposed the ‘Ordinance on Revitalization and Support of Gyeongsangbuk-do’s Mobility Industry, etc.’ at the 346th Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Council Extraordinary Session, and passed the Planning and Economy Committee review on the 24th.

This ordinance can solve population inflow and regional transportation problems through local economic development and job creation in Gyeongsangbuk-do by stipulating matters related to the systematic development and support of the mobility industry in the province and support for mobility-specialized cities.

In addition, the governor established a plan to foster the mobility industry, revitalized specialized cities, and established an industry-academia-research cooperation system to promote active support policies.

Rep. Lee Woo-cheong said, “As the Act on Mobility Innovation and Activation Support takes effect in October 2023, innovation, institutional plans, and support measures for mobility have been prepared, but the contents of the mobility industry are omitted from the law, so the mobility industry in Gyeongsangbuk-do is suffering. “I proposed this ordinance to revitalize it,” he said.

He continued, “Through this ordinance, the role of Gyeongsangbuk-do is important to support the mobility industry in Gimcheon-si, Gumi-si, Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongsan-si, and Uiseong-gun and to transform them into mobility-specialized cities.”

The main contents of the ordinance include △ development plan △ nurturing of the mobility industry and revitalization of specialized cities △ promotion and support of technology development △ attraction of companies, etc. △ priority supply of infrastructure for mobility specialized cities △ marketing support △ industry-academia-research cooperation system, etc. .

The ordinance is scheduled to be reviewed at the plenary session on May 3, and when implemented, it is expected to greatly contribute to the mobility industry in Gyeongsangbuk-do.
