PADO, an international current affairs and literary magazine, has prepared a special time to celebrate its first anniversary.

PADO held a talk concert with readers as a pre-event for the Money Today Global Conference ‘2024 Key Platform’ at the Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul on the 24th. PADO delivers insights by translating excellent content from leading global media such as The Economist, Financial Times, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal.

At this event, held under the theme of ‘A new lens to view the world,’ PADO invited about 50 readers and conducted a one-year progress report, read popular articles together, and listen to readers’ voices.

PADO Editor-in-Chief Kim Dong-gyu announced in a progress report that he plans to increase the number of articles published every week from four and expand the media handles from the existing English-speaking world to French, German, Japanese, and Chinese.

Editor-in-Chief Kim said, “In Japan, which was a feudal society, ahead of the Meiji Restoration, pioneers first announced the existence of a threat to the Japanese archipelago from outside,” and added, “In Korea, the existence of the outside is not yet properly recognized, so it is divided internally. “Only when we recognize what’s inside is recognized, and I believe that PADO’s work to make people aware of what’s outside is a task that will unite the Republic of Korea,” he said.

Editor-in-Chief Kim selected articles related to the U.S.-China competition for hegemony as the most impressive articles.

Editor-in-Chief Kim explained that historically, there has never been a time when the world’s No. 1 and No. 2 countries did not fight, and even countries that do good things have the logic of power at work behind them.

Editor-in-Chief Kim introduced related articles and said that the United States, which created the Internet, is watching a lot of things in the world. The explanation is that they are monitoring the Internet, and therefore, if China, a competitor country, launches a service like TikTok, they will inevitably be suspicious. He believes that the same goes for China and that all powerful countries are watching and trying to watch everything that people in the world do.

Editor-in-Chief Kim also introduced China’s strategy analyzed through articles. In the past, Mao Zedong of the Chinese Communist Party used a strategy of first taking control of rural areas and then moving into cities when strength was gathered, but it is analyzed that China’s current strategy to deal with the United States is similar to this and has expanded this globally.

He said, “I think China is taking the approach of thinking that if it does not try to fight directly with advanced countries such as the United States and the G7, which are the most powerful countries, but first gets low-income and underdeveloped countries that are not easily visible in the international community to its side, it will be able to deal with the United States in the future.” He said.

PADO writers Cho Hee-jung, professor of English and literature at Chung-Ang University, and PADO editor Kim Su-bin introduced impressive articles in fields such as literature, society, and science, respectively.

Meanwhile, PADO, which has celebrated its first year since its launch, recently introduced the ‘PADO CEO Academy’, which provides in-depth insights to opinion leaders, and is expanding its channels through various methods such as YouTube.
