The 14th Gyeonggi Province Sports Competition for the Disabled will be held from the 25th to the 27th at Pyeonghwa Nuri, Imjingak, Paju.
A total of 4,942 people, including 2,262 athletes and 2,680 executives from 31 cities and counties, will participate in this competition and compete in 17 sports, including gateball.
Sports such as lawn ball, swimming, basketball, dance sports, and e-sports, which involve rolling a ball on the grass and sending it close to the target ball, are held throughout Paju City.
Starting this year, Gyeonggi Province established a new student division (ages 13 and older) in weightlifting and track and field to foster student athletes.
The Sports Association has also strengthened safety by assigning safety managers to each sport.
In line with the ‘Renewable Energy 100% (RE100)’ policy, the province purchased approximately 500,000 kWh (kilowatt hours) of all electricity required for competitions, including the opening ceremony, in a green premium manner. Next year’s 15th Gyeonggi-do Sports Competition for the Disabled is scheduled to be held in Gapyeong-gun.
