The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency announced on the 25th that they will hold the ‘2024 Korea Cartoon Criticism Contest’ to create an in-depth comic culture foundation.
This contest invites criticism written on a free topic of approximately 14,000 characters by selecting one of four fields: ▶Artist theory ▶Work theory ▶Policy theory ▶Industrial theory. Anyone can apply, regardless of qualifications, including established players and newcomers.
The final 6 winning works are selected after review by relevant experts such as comics researchers and critics. The awards are divided into 1 grand prize winner (6 million won in prize money), 1 first prize winner (4 million won), and 2 excellence prize winners (2 million won each). Won), and two Rookie Award winners (1 million won each).
In addition, the winning works will be published in the cartoon criticism magazine ‘Now, Comics’ and ‘Cartoon Kyujanggak Webzine’, and the winners will be given the opportunity to participate as writers of cartoon criticism and columns published by the Korea Cartoon Video Agency.
