Taebaek City in Gangwon-do announced on the 25th that a special exhibition titled ‘Coal Age with the Region’, jointly planned with Mungyeong and Boryeong City, will be held at the National Museum of Korean History from the 26th to September 22nd.

This special exhibition, which consists of a total of five parts, is the result of preparation and cooperation between the city and three regions, starting with a memorandum of understanding signed in February of last year.

The exhibition introduces about 130 items, including relics from each regional museum and the works of artist Hwang Jae-hyung, who is known as a miner painter. In addition to the exhibition, there is also an experience of making briquette soap and a corner introducing coal-related tourist attractions in each region.

A city official said, “I hope that the exhibition will serve as an opportunity for many people to see and feel the various historical products of the coal industry and to become more interested in our city.”
