“Dear patients, Korea’s medical care is currently being torn apart by political issues.”

As the medical vacuum situation continues to prolong, with professors at medical schools across the country submitting letters of resignation in protest against the government’s policy of increasing the number of medical schools, a handwritten poster by a medical school professor has appeared at Seoul National University Hospital.

On the 25th, a handwritten poster was posted in front of the office door of Beomseop Jang, a professor of radiation oncology at Seoul National University Hospital. Daejabo said, “As someone said, the annual salary of 300 to 400 million won is absurd, and with the government’s low fee, patients can only receive 5 minutes of treatment. These voices from the medical field are ignored, and the increase in personnel, obsessed with the number 2,000, further reduces medical finances. “Patients will become sacrifices through exhaustion and various unnecessary treatments,” he said.

He added, “I submitted my resignation because I felt very skeptical and helpless about being a professor at a hospital that educates true doctors. I only feel sorry (to the patients).”

Professor Jang’s handwritten poster also had a post-it note that said “I’m rooting for you.”

Meanwhile, the National Medical University Professors’ Emergency Response Committee (Jeonuibi) will hold an online general meeting on the afternoon of the 26th with the agenda of ‘once a week closure’. Previously, after the general meeting on the 23rd, Jeonuibi said, “Regardless of the government’s policy to accept resignations, we will proceed with resignations as scheduled from April 25th,” and added, “We have decided to take a day off next week as the minds and bodies of professors have reached their limits.” .

In addition, he said, “Whether or not to close once a week will be discussed at the regular general meeting on the 26th depending on the hospital situation.”
