Gyeonggi Province conducts an online campaign to urge the government and National Assembly to enact the ‘RE100 3 Act’

(Vision 21 News) In celebration of the 2nd Climate Change Week, Gyeonggi Province is holding an online campaign called ‘Defend the Earth’s Life Temperature to 1.5℃ with RE100’ urging the National Assembly and the government to enact the ‘3 RE100 Act’ by the end of May. He requested active participation from residents.

In April last year, Gyeonggi Province announced the ‘Gyeonggi RE100’ vision, which includes the goal of expanding the proportion of new and renewable energy generation to 30% by 2030. The ‘RE100 3 Act’ is the institutional basis for implementing RE100 in Gyeonggi Province. ▲Amendment of the ‘New and Renewable Energy Act’ to realize RE100 as a nation ▲Enactment of the ‘Agricultural Solar Power Support Act (tentative name)’ to realize RE100 in rural areas ▲Realization of RE100 in industrial complexes This refers to the revision of the ‘Industrial Cluster Act’, etc.

The revision of the ‘New and Renewable Energy Act’ contains provisions for the expansion of renewable energy, such as specifying the target of 30% renewable energy generation in 30 years and abolishing unreasonable solar panel separation distance regulations. The ‘Agricultural Solar Power Support Act (tentative name)’ contains provisions such as providing special provisions for the installation of solar power facilities so that the expansion of renewable energy can be promoted centered on farmers. The amendment to the ‘Industrial Cluster Act’ includes provisions such as establishing a new and renewable energy plan and mandating the installation of solar power for tenant companies when establishing a new industrial complex development plan.

As a result of the enactment and revision of the three RE100 laws, Gyeonggi Province will achieve a reduction of approximately 23 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions and a production inducement effect of approximately KRW 133 trillion when the country’s 30-year renewable energy power generation target of 30% is achieved. It is estimated that there will be an economic ripple effect of approximately 48 trillion won in added value and employment creation of approximately 472,000 people.
