(Daily Daegu-Gyeongbuk News = Reporter Hwang Ji-hyeon) Gyeongsangbuk-do Council member Lee Woo-cheong (Gimcheon, Construction and Fire Protection Committee) proposed ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do’ to encourage the installation of electric vehicle charging facilities and exclusive parking areas on the ground and to provide a basis for installing safety reinforcement facilities. The ‘Partial Amendment Ordinance on Promoting the Distribution and Use of Environmentally Friendly Vehicles’ passed the Standing Committee review on April 24.

Recently, the supply of electric vehicles has increased significantly due to changes in the automobile market, but as the number of vehicles increases, the number of fires in electric vehicles is also increasing. In particular, there are many cases of fire accidents occurring while charging or while parked, and if a fire occurs in an underground parking lot, there is a risk of serious secondary damage as it is difficult to extinguish.

This ordinance is intended to prevent electric vehicle fires and secondary damage, and its main contents include △recommendation for installing environmentally friendly vehicle charging facilities and exclusive parking areas on the ground, △recommendation for installing facilities to enhance safety such as thermal imaging cameras and flame detection sensors, etc. there is.

Rep. Lee Woo-cheong said, “The spread of environmentally friendly cars has increased and the installation of charging facilities has become mandatory, but if the charging facilities are installed in an enclosed underground parking lot, there is a risk that it could spread into a large-scale fire.” He added, “This ordinance is a systematic plan to resolve these concerns.” “As it is intended to provide a basis, it is expected to contribute to preventing damage caused by electric vehicle fires.”
