Gyeonggi Province is conducting an online campaign urging the National Assembly and government to enact the ‘RE100 3 Act’.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that in celebration of the 2nd Climate Change Week, it plans to conduct an online campaign to ‘Defend the global temperature of 1.5℃ with RE100’ and deliver it to the National Assembly in the form of joint signatures.

The three RE100 laws are the institutional basis for the implementation of RE100 in Gyeonggi Province, including the revision of the ‘New and Renewable Energy Act’ to realize RE100 in the country, the enactment of the ‘Agricultural Solar Power Support Act (tentative name)’ to realize RE100 in rural areas, and the ‘Agricultural Solar Energy Support Act (tentative name)’ to realize RE100 in industrial complexes. This includes amendments to the ‘Industrial Cluster Act’.

Previously, Gyeonggi Province announced the ‘Gyeonggi RE100’ vision in April last year, which included the goal of expanding the proportion of new and renewable energy generation to 30% by 2030.

Looking specifically at the RE100 3 Act, the revision of the New and Renewable Energy Act includes specifying a target of 30% renewable energy generation by 2030 to expand renewable energy, and abolishing unreasonable solar panel separation distance regulations. The Agricultural Solar Power Support Act (tentative name) contains provisions granting special treatment to farmers when installing solar power facilities. The amendment to the Industrial Cluster Act includes the establishment of a new and renewable energy plan when establishing a new industrial complex development plan and mandatory installation of solar power for tenant companies.

Participation in the online campaign is possible on the Gyeonggi-do website (News → Gyeonggi-do Today → More Opportunities) until the 30th of next month. Participants will be entered into a drawing to receive various prizes such as electric bicycles, zero waste, and coffee coupons.
