Medical school increased, 100% applications to Chosun University… Chonnam National University is ‘considering’

As the deadline for submitting medical school admissions for the 2025 academic year approaches, Chonnam National University’s concerns are deepening.

This is because it has not been decided how much the increase in medical school admissions will be reflected next year.

Previously, on the 20th of last month, the Medical School Allocation Committee allocated 200 students to Chonnam National University Medical School, an increase of 75 from the existing quota of 125.

However, as the government changed its policy on the 19th to reflect 50-100% of the increase, Chonnam National University has not yet decided on the scale of the increase.

An official from Chonnam National University said, “Opinions are divided between 50% and 100% of the increase in personnel,” and added, “We plan to continue discussions as the Korean University Education Association has given us until mid-May.”

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Chosun University’s College of Medicine will apply for review of changes to the college admissions implementation plan to 100% reflect the increase of 25 students from the existing 125 students.

Chosun University is known to believe that, as the government has announced a policy of full investment in facilities, etc., it must maintain the number of recruits to receive maximum support.

An official from Chosun University said, “As the scale of the increase is not large, the board of directors passed a 100% increase in staff,” and added, “We plan to submit an implementation plan within this month.”

In accordance with the Enforcement Decree of the Higher Education Act, universities must reflect changes in their quota in school regulations and apply for review of changes to the University Education Council by mid-May.
