[내외통신]Reporter Seo Yeong-hoon = Jung-gu, Seoul will conduct a “Korea Safety University Conversion 2024 Jung-gu Intensive Safety Inspection” targeting 95 safety-vulnerable facilities in the district by June 21. Based on the regional characteristics of many traditional markets, three fire prevention districts were selected and a joint inspection with the Central Fire Department and the Electric and Gas Safety Corporation was conducted starting on the 24th.

The ‘Korea Safety Transition Intensive Safety Inspection’ involves central administrative agencies, local governments, and private experts participating in a government-wide inspection of facilities vulnerable to disasters or safety accidents in advance. The purpose is to create a safe society by preemptively eliminating risk factors and to increase people’s safety awareness.

The inspection targets are a total of 95 places, including traditional markets (21 places), senior centers and welfare centers (11 places), apartment complexes (9 places), construction sites (11 places), and cultural assets (2 places). Facilities inspected within the last three months are excluded as much as possible to prevent duplicate inspections and increase the effectiveness of inspections as much as possible.

In particular, three districts were designated as fire prevention strengthening districts: Namdaemun Market, wooden furniture shopping area, and printing workshop area. For three days starting on the 24th, in collaboration with the Central Fire Department, we carefully inspected whether firefighting, electricity, and gas facilities were operating normally and whether there were any fire vulnerability factors.

A joint public-private inspection team conducts accurate inspections by actively utilizing facility-specific safety inspection guides and cutting-edge equipment. The policy is to immediately correct minor issues that can be corrected on-site and take continuous action to ensure that major issues are quickly and accurately supplemented.

In addition, the ‘Inspection Facility Resident Application System’, which allows residents to directly request facility inspections, has been extended and operated until May 31. This is because the actual residents are most likely to know about the hidden dangers in the neighborhood. Applications are accepted at the local community center or safety reporting center.

We also distribute autonomous safety checklists so that you can easily conduct your own safety checks in your daily life. We have increased usability by preparing it for home use and multi-use facilities. The purpose is to increase residents’ safety awareness and encourage resident participation.

Jung-gu Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, “We ask for the active participation of residents so that we can spread a culture of taking safety into account in daily life through self-inspection.” He added, “During the intensive inspection period, we will carefully examine safety vulnerable facilities and risk factors in the district to create a safe Jung-gu. “I will do my best,” he said.
