Passed the plenary session on the ‘Introduction of Gyeonggi-do Public Officials External Title System’ ordinance

An ordinance introducing an external job title system for Gyeonggi-do public officials passed the plenary session of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Council announced on the 26th that the ‘Partial Amendment Ordinance on the Protection of Rights of Public Officials and Conversion to Indefinite Contracts in Gyeonggi Province’ proposed by Gyeonggi Provincial Assemblyman Taehyung Kang (Democratic Party, Ansan 5) was passed at the 2nd plenary session of the 374th Extraordinary Session on the 26th.

The ordinance, which was enacted to regulate the job titles for Gyeonggi-do public servants, includes the introduction of an external job title system for Gyeonggi-do public servants.

In addition, the purpose of the legislation is to establish a rank system for public servants and introduce preferential policies for long-term employees, thereby improving the employment environment and enhancing rights and interests of employees, thereby enhancing their pride and professionalism in their jobs.

Provincial lawmaker Kang Tae-hyung said, “This ordinance is significant in that it has finally been passed in the plenary session after a long period of four years, starting in October 2020, the first legislative notice period.”

He continued, “I hope that Gyeonggi Province, the largest metropolitan organization, will come up with a leading plan so that the 3,000 public servants who are members of the Gyeonggi Province community can work as true people and office workers.”

He said, “This is the first step toward eliminating discrimination among public servants in Gyeonggi Province and its affiliated organizations,” adding, “This movement will not only stop at Gyeonggi Province, but will also have a positive ripple effect on all public servants and the private sector across the country.”
