[OSEN=선미경 기자] Actor Elliot Page, who underwent gender reassignment surgery, confessed, “I am grateful to be alive.”
Elliot Page confessed his feelings after undergoing gender reassignment surgery through People ahead of the publication of his memoir, ‘Page Boy’. Elliot Page’s memoir, ‘Page Boy,’ is set to be released on June 6 and tells the story of his experience as the world’s most famous transgender person.
“I never thought I would be able to write a book,” Page told People. The memoir really changed my life and provided everything that was inspiring, comforting and humbling.” He also touched on the importance of being LGBTQ+.
“Most of my experience as a transgender person, this life I have, and the privileges I have do not represent the reality of transgender life,” Page said. “The reality is that transgender people are disproportionately unemployed and disproportionately experiencing homelessness. Trans women of color are being murdered and have lost or no access to health care.”
Page’s journey to making this clear was not an easy one. “Obviously there were a lot of tough moments,” Page said. I feel like I managed to do it in many ways. But today, I’m just me and I’m grateful to be here alive and taking it one step at a time.”
Elliot Page is well-known in Korea through the films ‘Juno’ and ‘Inception’, and in December 2020, he made headlines by revealing the fact that he had undergone gender reassignment surgery. In 2018, she married her same-sex girlfriend, Emma Fortner, but they separated in January of last year after her gender reassignment surgery. /[email protected]
