Foreign media reported on the 23rd (local time) that Microsoft (MS) has begun testing Game Pass advertisements for Windows 11 Insiders.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3500, which Microsoft released to the beta channel late last week, adds a new account manager to the Start menu and includes support for Gmail through Windows Sharing.

Additionally, a new Game Pass advertisement has been added within the Settings app. Microsoft said, “We plan to introduce a new Game Pass recommendation card on the Settings homepage.” Game Pass recommendation cards will only appear if you are actively playing the game on your PC.

Microsoft added, “The Game Pass recommendation card will only be displayed if you are using Windows 11 Home and Pro versions and are logged in to Windows with an MS account.”

Meanwhile, in addition to placing Game Pass ads in the Windows Settings app, Microsoft is also testing to add ads to the Start menu. If the number of advertisements increases in Windows 11, user dissatisfaction may increase, but Microsoft’s position is that it is only recommended information that may be useful to users and is not an advertisement.
