[디지털투데이 AI리포터] IT media Tech Crunch reported on the 25th (local time) that American space startup Gravitics signed a contract with the U.S. Space Force to build an orbital outpost.
“We have signed a $1.7 million contract with the Space Force to develop an orbital platform that will enable a new type of tactical response space mission,” said Gravitics co-founder Mike DeRosa.
Under this agreement, Gravitics plans to collaborate with several companies, including Rocket Lab, True Anomaly, and Space Exploration Engineering. Details of the cooperation plan have not been disclosed, but these companies are expected to work on hardware and spacesuit development.
Previously, Gravitics received an investment of $20 million (about 27.484 billion won) to help develop the modular StarMax space station unit. The volume of each modular space station unit is said to be 400 m³. At the time, Gravitics claimed that its adapter technology would help usher in a new era of spaceflight.
Meanwhile, Rocket Lab and True Anomaly, known as Gravitics’ partners, signed a separate contract to provide the Victus Haze Tactical Response Space (TacRS) mission earlier this month.
