[디지털투데이 AI리포터] Mobile media outlet Phone Arena reported on the 25th (local time) that WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new feature to manage reaction notifications for users’ status updates.

This feature, which allows users to choose whether they want to be notified when someone reacts to their status updates, was added to the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android.

The update follows a growing trend of messaging apps giving users more control over their notification settings. It is said that most users tend to find constant notifications distracting and burdensome.

WhatsApp statuses are temporary updates that disappear after 24 hours, similar to Instagram Stories. Users can share photos, videos, texts, voice notes, and more, and can even react to other users’ statuses with emoticons.

This feature is still in development, so it may not be available to all WhatsApp users yet. However, it is likely that it will be released more widely in a future update.
