Professional baseball KT Wiz defeats Hanwha Eagles 9-6, earning 8th win of the 2024 season

Suwon KT Wiz, a professional baseball team, defeated the Hanwha Eagles and achieved its 8th win in the 2024 season.

KT defeated Hanwha 9-6 in the regular season game of the ‘2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League’ held at Suwon KT Wiz Park on the 23rd.

With the win on this day, KT’s record this season was 8 wins, 18 losses, and 1 draw.

KT got off to a refreshing start, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to hits by Jang Seong-woo and Moon Sang-cheol. KT added one point in the bottom of the second inning when Seong-ho Cheon hit home on Min-hyuk Kim’s hit.

However, Hanwha began chasing Kim Tae-yeon’s 3-run home run in the top of the 4th inning.

KT took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 4th inning when Jo Yong-ho scored on Baek-ho Kang’s sacrifice fly to left field.

KT’s attack continued. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Cho Yong-ho’s hit allowed Hwang Jae-gyun to score, scoring one run.

Hanwha pushed KT hard in the top of the 6th inning, scoring 2 points with doubles by Park Sang-eon and Lee Jin-young.

KT responded with Kang Baek-ho’s solo home run in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Hanwha scored 1 point again in the top of the 8th inning with a solo home run by Hwang Young-mook from Yeoncheon Miracle.

However, KT won the game by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, including 2 RBIs from Jang Seong-woo and a wild pitch from Hanwha pitcher.

KT closing pitcher Park Young-hyun took the mound in the top of the 9th inning and finished the game with a win, pitching one inning without allowing any runs. Young-Hyun Park succeeded in making his third save this season.

KT starting pitcher Yuk Cheong-myeong showed off a good pitching performance, allowing 3 runs (2 earned runs) in 5 innings.

On the other hand, Hanwha starting pitcher Moon Dong-ju performed somewhat poorly, allowing 5 runs (4 earned runs) in 4 2/3 innings.

KT Kang Baek-ho played well, scoring 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs in 3 at-bats, including a solo home run. KT Cheon Seong-ho, who started as the number one hitter, also did his part by recording 2 hits and 2 runs in 4 at-bats.
