Oh Ho-taek (29) will enter the major stage through the ‘ONE Championship’, the largest group in Asia. It’s only been 8 years since his mixed martial arts debut.

On October 1st, Oh Ho-taek will face Ryogo Takahashi (33, Japan) in the third match (featherweight) of ONE on Prime Video 2. The first match of the One Championship will be played in a competition that is broadcast live in the US and Canada through the OTT service ‘Amazon Prime Video’.

It is the first time since 2014 that Oh Ho-taek competes in featherweight division. The fact that Takahashi is ranked 5th in the official MMA ranking of the One Championship is also the reason why the result cannot be guaranteed.

Ho-taek Oh, who moved up to the lightweight division in 2016 after losing 1 draw and 1 loss in the featherweight division, has risen to 8 wins and 1 loss.
Whether or not he can show Takahashi the superiority of physique and strength from a higher weight class, such as height (180-170 cm), will determine the victory or defeat in the debut match of the One Championship.

Takahashi succeeded in his first defense the following year after becoming the ‘Shutou’ featherweight Pacific Rim champion in the Japanese mixed martial arts competition in 2016. After advancing to the One Championship, it is noteworthy that he defeated Changmin Yoon (28) in the second round with a punch KO in 2020.

At that time, Yoon Chang-min received attention as a gold spoon learning mixed martial arts from Seong-hoon Choo (47) and Dong-hyun Kim (41), ▲ winning the Japanese reality program ‘Fighting Proxy War’ Season 2 in 2018 ▲ Debuting in the One Championship 4 in a row. Takahashi made a deep impression by breaking the momentum of Yoon Chang-min.

One Championship’s official website selected Oh Ho-Taek-Takahashi as one of the “three mixed martial arts matches from the end of September to the beginning of October that you will not regret even if you pay attention, although it is not a main/co-main event or title match.”

Oh, Ho-taek’s ▲TFC (Korea) AFC (Korea) UAE Warriors (United Arab Emirates) Brave (Bahrain) won 6 consecutive mixed martial arts victories ▲ Versatile technique ▲ Grappling ability to perform best on the mat attracted attention from the One Championship website.

The One Championship website said, “Takahashi is an experienced striker. In particular, in batting battles at close range, he comfortably engages with the world’s best opponents. It’s not unusual for him to make fun of a veteran.”

Since 2011, the One Championship has held 209 events in 23 countries, including the first in the Netherlands and Mongolia this year. In Korea, it will be broadcast on IB SPORTS and Coupang Play.
