satellite message
Apple recently introduced a feature on some iPhones that uses satellite communications to make emergency calls when in remote areas without network coverage. This feature will not be provided in Android 15, but the ability to send messages such as SMS and MMS via satellite will be provided. This feature is useful if you like adventure or want to spend time safely away from the network. However, it remains to be seen how the service will work, as it is unclear whether it will require any specific hardware built into the phone.
Faster NFC payments
Google plans to improve Android 15’s NFC payment function to make the process faster and more convenient. For example, the phone may appear to be communicating with another NFC device, but the actual payment will not take place until the user taps the screen to confirm the payment. It’s a small change, but it’s a feature you’ll use often.
Choosing an alternative Google Pay service is easier
In Android 14, you can already choose your bank’s own contactless payment app as your default wallet instead of Google Pay, but some users found it a bit difficult to set up. This setup was tweaked in the first beta release of Android 15 to make it much simpler. This setting can now be found in the Default Apps section rather than buried in the NFC section.
Share app screen
Now you can share the screen only with the app you are using, not the entire display. This feature was first applied to the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro in late 2023. However, in Android 15, this feature will be available on all devices.
Improved PDF viewing and editing
Google has been working to improve PDF rendering and processing in its built-in PDF reader. Therefore, Android 15 not only displays documents faster, but also provides native support for features such as annotations, form editing, and password protection.
Improved camera performance
The Android 15 beta includes a few subtle upgrades to the camera. One of them is ‘Low Light Boost’, a new automatic exposure feature that allows you to preview the results of night shots. Additionally, new, more granular flash controls have been added that allow you to adjust the brightness of the flash and prevent whiteout.
audio equalization
Another new feature is ‘volume control’. Monitor and adjust the volume of the media you are using to ensure they all have approximately the same volume. You can avoid having your ears deafened by advertisements if you accidentally open YouTube while listening to recorded music quietly.
Notification Cooldown
When you feel burdened by continuous phone notifications, you can take a break by using Android 15’s cooldown feature. This setting prevents the same app from sending notifications one after another. If an app sends a lot of notifications in a short period of time, later notifications will be silenced by default.
Screen recording detection
Improvements to security are always welcome for users, as are new monitoring features for system activity. In Android 15, you can detect if an app is recording the screen while in use. This prevents sensitive data from being recorded accidentally or through malware.
New Health Connect app
The Health Connect app was a beta feature in Android 14, but is expected to be included as an official feature in Android 15. As the name suggests, it allows users to display health, nutrition, and fitness data from a variety of third-party apps in one place.
We introduced the 10 most interesting new features of Android 15 so far. In addition, changes are expected to make it easier to distinguish between SDR and HDR images, support virtual MIDI 2.0 devices, and better recognize multiple languages at the same time. Of course, overall performance and battery life are improved. Google may unveil more interesting features during its I/O keynote. Most newer phones can use Android 15. However, it may vary depending on the phone manufacturer.
