[TV리포트=김연주 기자] A more interesting point to watch in the Netflix series ‘The Fool of the End’ has been revealed.

The Netflix original series ‘The Fool of the Apocalypse’ depicts the story of the D-200, an asteroid collision with the Earth, a world in chaos due to the impending apocalypse, and the story of people who live today together until the end.

Director Kim Jin-min, who was in charge of directing, said, “Now, making a drama in Korea has become a way to meet the whole world. It is the most Korean story, but it is also a story worth imagining in your own world. “I hope it will be a drama that you will watch over and over again,” he said, expressing his thoughts about the release of the work. Writer Jeong Seong-ju raised expectations by saying, “No matter what others say, this is a tribute to people who live together through times of fear and despair. Please watch how the characters survive the remaining time in a neighborhood where more than half of the area has been destroyed.”

The first point to watch in ‘The Fool of the Apocalypse’ is the story of a unique dystopia depicting a pre-apocalyptic society and the people who gather together to wait for the apocalypse. On the Korean Peninsula, an area directly affected by an asteroid impact, the residents of Ungcheon City face their inevitable fate and prepare to face the end of the world and life in their own way.

Unlike other works that deal with disasters, it is not the spectacle of a typical disaster blockbuster, but rather an emotional spectacle that illuminates the story itself of people relying on each other and continuing their daily lives together. Although there is no hero who can prevent an asteroid from colliding and save the Earth, the characters in the work are each other’s heroes and strong supporters. The small daily lives of Woongcheon City residents, such as protecting children who will never become adults from crime, protecting citizens as soldiers, and growing vegetables to eat together, will show a colorful narrative of characters who face the end in their own way.

The acting ensemble of actors who complete the various human groups in a society facing the end is also an unmissable point to watch. First, Ahn Eun-jin plays the role of Se-kyung, a teacher who protects children in danger. She leads the play with a warm and strong appearance, with goodness that takes care of people around her before herself and a sense of justice that does not tolerate injustice and rushes forward when she sees it. Here, Jeon Seong-woo plays the role of ‘Seongjae’, an aide at Wondong Cathedral, and expresses with delicate acting the inner self of a character who has to take care of anxious believers even in a confusing situation where no one can be trusted.

In addition, Kim Yun-hye, who plays the role of ‘In-ah’, the company commander of the combat service support battalion, convincingly shows a strong and decisive character who steps forward and acts before anyone else to protect the citizens of Ungcheon City and other precious people. In addition, Kim Bo-min, Kim Kang-hoon, and Kim Do-hye, who play the roles of ‘So-min’, ‘Jinseo’, and ‘Ha-yul’, who are the disciples of ‘Se-kyung’ who hangs around every day as the three musketeers of Ungcheon-si, and ‘Wonder Mart’, the only supermarket remaining in Woongcheon-si. Kim Yeo-jin as ‘Mi-ryeong’, Kang Seok-woo as ‘Baeksinbu’, the head priest of Wondong Cathedral, Park Hyeok-kwon as ‘Soo-geun’, the father of ‘Ha-yul’ who tries to escape to a safe zone, and ‘So-min”s mother and caretaker for children who have lost their parents. Baek Ji-won as ‘Gye-hyang’, Cha Hwa-yeon as ‘Myeong-ok’ who tries to restore her relationship with her daughter ‘In-ah’, and Kim Young-ok as ‘Bo-ae’, a wealthy woman and the oldest member of the Wondong Cathedral. The solid acting skills of trustworthy actors will capture the attention of viewers by completing three-dimensional characters in ‘Fool of the End’ with various narratives.

Additionally, the well-made production unique to ‘The Fool of the End’, which realistically depicts the chaos of the Korean Peninsula just before the apocalypse, is a bonus. Ungcheon City, the setting of the work, was completed by adding director Kim Jin-min’s unique realistic directing to writer Jeong Seong-ju’s setting of a small town located in the southwestern part of the metropolitan area. In particular, the exterior walls of Ungcheon City buildings filled with D-Day and the final message to the world and the streets filled with citizens convey the confusion of people facing the end, maximizing immersion.

Meanwhile, ‘The Fool of the End’ can be watched on Netflix.
