Tass news agency reported that the number of Russians who traveled to North Korea via Vladivostok in the Russian Far East this year exceeded 160.

TASS news agency reported, “More than 160 people have already visited the neighboring country (North Korea) that operates international flights from Vladivostok alone, and more than 100 more will visit North Korea during the May holidays.”

Russia resumed group tours to North Korea in February, which had been suspended due to COVID-19 in January 2020. To this end, the North Korean authorities and the Maritime Province delegation signed an agreement regarding North Korean tourism in December last year.

Next month, there will be Labor Day (May 1) and Victory Day (May 9) holidays, so demand for North Korean tourism is expected to increase.

In fact, Russian travel agencies that have received permission to tour North Korea are preparing North Korea travel programs and accepting reservations during these holidays.

Travel agency ‘Vostok Intour’ offers a 5-day, 4-night stay from May 6 to 10 on its website.

North Korean tour packages are being sold for $750 (approximately 1.03 million won), and the Maritime Province is being promoted by claiming that entry into North Korea is possible only through Vladivostok International Airport.

The Maritime Province Tourism Office said that 40 to 50% of travelers to North Korea are interested in exploring the Maritime Province as well and that they are developing various programs.
