SK Hynix announced on the 25th that it posted consolidated sales of KRW 12.4296 trillion, operating profit of KRW 2.886 trillion (operating profit margin 23%), and net profit of KRW 1.917 trillion (net profit margin 15%) in the first quarter of this year.

Sales are the highest ever in the first quarter. Operating profit was the second highest since 2018, which was the biggest boom period in the first quarter.
Sales increased 144.3% compared to the same period last year, and operating profit turned into surplus.
Initially, securities companies expected the company’s average operating profit in the first quarter to be 1.8 trillion won, but the actual earnings surprise was more than 1 trillion won higher than this.
The company explained, “As a result of increasing sales of artificial intelligence (AI) memory products for AI servers, such as high bandwidth memory (HBM), while continuing profitability-oriented management, operating profit increased by 734% compared to the previous quarter.”
He added, “NAND flash also succeeded in turning into a surplus as the sales proportion of enterprise solid-state drives (eSSD), a premium product, increased and the average selling price (ASP) increased.”
The company predicted that the memory market will continue to grow steadily this year as demand for AI memory continues to increase and demand for general DRAM also recovers from the second half of the year.
The company announced that it will increase the supply of HBM3E (5th generation high bandwidth memory), which began mass production last March, and increase the supply of high-capacity server DRAM by launching 10nm 5th generation (1b)-based 32Gb DDR5 products within the year.
In addition, the company explained that it will respond to market demand by increasing sales of its subsidiary Solidim’s quad-level cell (QLC)-based high-capacity eSSD along with high-performance 16-channel eSSD and launching PCI Express 5th generation NAND products for AI PCs. Reporter Baram Kim
