[헬스 특진실] Yeongdong Oriental Medical Clinic COPD is a chronic lung disease that makes it difficult to breathe due to narrowed airways and damaged alveoli. However, it also worsens heart health and strengthens the heart and lungs with the complex herbal medicine ‘K-Heartlungdan’. A case of cure was introduced at the Osaka Academic Conference in Japan.

Lung health is also linked to heart health. In fact, more than 70% of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) also have heart diseases such as arrhythmia, angina, and myocardial infarction. Mr. Kim (67 years old), who visited an oriental medicine clinic due to severe coughing, phlegm, and chest discomfort, said he was also diagnosed with angina pectoris. He received medication at a university hospital, but he still occasionally experienced stabbing pain in his chest and suffered from anxiety as if someone would strangle him to death. Yeongdong Oriental Medical Clinic began treatment to improve Kim’s cardiopulmonary function. This is by using the ‘K-cardiopulmonary group’ developed by Director Kim Nam-seon after a long period of research. This refers to a cocktail oriental medicine complex treatment that uses ‘Kim’s Antler Yeongdong-tang’ and ‘Kim’s Gongsimdan’ together. Mr. K’s heart pain disappeared after a month of treatment, and his coughing fits improved after two months. After 6 months, the symptoms improved to the point where I no longer felt the need for medication. The key to rapid improvement is treating the lungs and heart together.

Mr. Kim’s case will be introduced through a presentation by Director Kim Nam-seon at the ’74th Japanese Society of Oriental Medicine Academic Meeting’ held at the Osaka International Convention Center in Japan from May 31 to June 2. Director Kim previously presented a case of COPD being completely cured with ‘K-Heartlung Group’ at a thesis presentation held at Harvard Medical School in the United States in August 2022. How does the ‘K-Heartlung Group’ he developed cure COPD?

COPD reduces quality of life; smokers are a high-risk group

COPD is a lung disease in which airways narrow over a long period of time and alveoli lose their normal function. Although it is one of the five major chronic diseases designated by the WHO, it is less widely known than other chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. However, COPD has many uncomfortable symptoms that interfere with daily life. Representative examples include persistent shortness of breath, coughing, phlegm, chest pressure, and general lethargy.

In particular, the risk of developing COPD is high if you have smoked for a long period of time or worked for a long time in a kitchen, construction site, or vehicle repair shop where a lot of fine dust is generated. This is because harmful substances accumulate in the alveoli attached to the very ends of the bronchi. Then, the lungs gradually lose their elasticity and become saggy, and the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide does not occur smoothly, reducing the oxygen supply to the body. Therefore, even the slightest movement can cause you to gasp for breath, and cyanosis, where your lips turn blue, may appear. Harmful substances accumulate not only in the alveoli but also throughout the respiratory tract from the nose to the bronchi and alveoli. These accumulated substances irritate the bronchi and damage the airways. If the inflammatory reaction in the bronchi continues, a cough accompanied by phlegm occurs. As this process is repeated, the bronchi gradually narrow, making breathing difficult, and COPD is diagnosed. In addition, if you have allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, or sinusitis, you are more likely to develop COPD by causing chronic inflammation in the respiratory tract. If you have COPD, your quality of life will inevitably decline because even the slightest activity will make you short of breath.

The problem is that the majority of COPD patients miss treatment. This is because early symptoms such as coughing and difficulty breathing are dismissed as a mild cold. However, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), COPD is the fourth leading cause of death. It is important to detect it early to prevent symptoms from worsening and lower the risk of death. Director Kim Nam-seon said, “If you are over 40 years old and have persistent cough, phlegm, or difficulty breathing and have a history of smoking, you should get tested periodically.” He added, “The majority of COPD patients have a history of lung diseases such as tuberculosis and pneumonia, so those who have suffered from respiratory diseases “If you have enemies, you need to be more careful,” he said.

A disease that is difficult to cure… The key is to restore damaged lungs

Usually, treatment for COPD focuses on relieving uncomfortable symptoms such as coughing and phlegm and preventing the disease from progressing further. This is because COPD is mostly accompanied by irreversible airflow obstruction. Irreversible means that the narrowing of the bronchi is not completely resolved but progresses gradually and cannot return to its normal state. If breathing becomes difficult, inhalants that temporarily expand the bronchi are used, and if excessive phlegm is produced, antitussive expectorants are prescribed. However, these treatments do not restore damaged lungs. In addition, steroids, which are representative drugs that reduce inflammation, may cause side effects such as lowering systemic immunity the longer they are used.

In Oriental medicine, it is important to regenerate damaged alveoli in order to treat COPD. Therefore, treatment is performed to restore bronchial and lung function and strengthen immunity. The goal is to reduce inflammation in the bronchial tubes, clean the lungs, and improve lung immunity by regenerating damaged bronchial smooth muscles and sagging alveoli. The representative treatment medicine is Yeongdong Oriental Medical Clinic’s ‘K-Heartlungdan’. ‘K-Heartlungdan’ is a cocktail herbal medicine along with ‘Kim’s Antler Yeongdong-tang’, which reduces inflammation in the entire respiratory system from the nose to the bronchi and alveoli and increases immunity. This is a pill prescribed as a combination therapy. Ephedra, gyeji, honeysuckle, and sinihwa reduce inflammation accumulated in the bronchial tubes and improve breathing. If you add deer antler and deer antler, which increase the regenerative capacity of the lungs, you can induce cleansing and regeneration at the same time.

The 74th Annual General Meeting of the Japan Society of Oriental Medicine will be held from May 31 to June 2, 2024 in Osaka, Japan. Kim Nam-seon, director of Yeongdong Oriental Medicine Clinic, is also scheduled to attend this general meeting.

‘K-Cardiopulmonary Group’ maximizes effectiveness by treating lungs and heart together

In particular, for COPD, recovery speed is faster when the lungs and heart are treated together. Director Kim Nam-seon said, “When lung function deteriorates, oxygen supply does not work well and the heart muscle does not receive enough blood, which also worsens heart health. In Oriental medicine, the lungs and heart are viewed as parents and siblings and are treated simultaneously.” ‘K-Heart and Lung Dan’ has a strengthening effect that strengthens the heart, improving weakened heart and lung functions at the same time. It is based on precious medicinal ingredients such as deer antler, which is effective in regenerating bronchial smooth muscle and alveoli and improving immunity, and musk, which has a cardiotonic effect and helps respiratory communication, and is especially effective in alleviating coughing, phlegm, and breathing difficulties. In particular, the pure gold coated on the ‘K-Heart-Lung-Ban’ lasts the medicinal effect for a long time and helps strengthen the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. Director Kim said, “8 to 9 out of 10 patients who have taken K-Heartlungdan for one year see improvement in COPD symptoms.” He added, “Uncomfortable symptoms can disappear as early as 3 to 4 months, and at the latest within a year.” He said.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Oriental Medicine Treatment

Of course, along with taking medication, personal care is also essential. COPD patients must quit smoking and improve their cardiorespiratory endurance and respiratory function through regular respiratory rehabilitation exercises. Director Kim Nam-seon said, “I recommend walking exercise more than anything else. If you walk fast enough to feel slightly out of breath for 30 minutes to an hour a day, even if you are out of breath for two weeks, you will gradually adapt and improve.” Even mild respiratory infections can be fatal for COPD patients. You should maintain cleanliness on a daily basis and wear a mask when exposed to an environment with a lot of fine dust. In particular, COPD patients often already have reduced lung function. It is a good idea to get regular vaccinations to prevent pneumonia, influenza, etc. Above all, the most important thing is to receive early diagnosis and treatment.
