The ‘2024 Gangwon and Hongcheon Wild Vegetable Festival’, hosted by the Hongcheon Cultural Foundation and sponsored by Gangwon-do and Hongcheon-gun, will be held in the Tori Forest area of ​​the Urban Forest Park, Hongcheon-eup, Hongcheon-gun from the 26th to the 28th.

According to the province on the 24th, this festival is the first wild greens promotion and promotion event jointly held by Gangwon-do and Hongcheon-gun. Until last year, the province, city, and county had been promoting the event separately, but this year it was held jointly to solve the problem of overlapping event periods, efficiently execute the budget, and increase the scale of the event.

At this ‘Wild Greens Festival’, various wild greens and medicinal herbs produced directly by farmers and foresters in 12 cities and counties in the province, including Hongcheon-gun, various processed forest products, and various special products produced by Hongcheon-gun residents are displayed and sold.

Gangwon Province expects that this festival will contribute to revitalizing the distribution of wild greens and forest products, including increasing the income of farmers and foresters, promoting clean Gangwon wild greens both internally and externally, and establishing a direct transaction market between consumers and producers.

The province plans to provide visitors with a variety of experiential events such as rice straw sledding, planting wild vegetable seedlings, natural dyeing, train tours, and forest fire prevention campaigns during the festival.

In addition, as a festival-linked event, to prevent safety accidents at forestry workplaces, forestry business safety accident prevention training will be held at the Hongcheon-gun Culture and Arts Center for about 100 people, including city and county forestry business officials in the Yeongseo region and workers working in the forestry field. A safety accident prevention campaign is also being implemented at the wild greens festival site.
