[한지혜 기자] The ‘2024 Korea Science Festival’ will be held in Daejeon, the city of science.

The event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Daejeon City under the theme of ‘The World’s Largest Laboratory’. The festival will be held from the 25th to the 28th at the Expo Citizen Square and the Expo Science Park.

The ‘Korea Science Festival’, held for the 28th time this year, is an event to experience the achievements of science and technology R&D and communicate through science. It will be held by combining the ‘Korea Science Festival’, which focuses on experiencing science, technology and culture, and the ‘Korea Science and Technology Exhibition’, which focuses on exhibitions of national strategic technology research results.

The festival space was created customized for each age and type so that all citizens, from children to adults, can enjoy it. There are five locations, including ▲Science Museum ▲Science Lounge ▲Science Theme Park ▲Science Laboratory ▲Science Talk Talk.

The ‘Science Museum’ is a space dedicated to science and technology exhibitions, where you can take a look at cutting-edge technologies and products from representative companies in 12 major national strategic technologies such as space, quantum, and artificial intelligence. The institute plans to introduce the latest R&D research results.

The ‘Science Lounge’ utilizes the circular plaza of Hanbat Arboretum. We have prepared special rest areas such as a science picnic, a science story with 300 pandas, and a science gallery. In addition, the ‘Science Theme Park’ is full of things to enjoy, such as programs exclusively for adults and couples, a laser show using the night scenery, a night market with science performances, a science cafe, and a science library.

In the ‘Science Laboratory’, the outdoor space is configured as a youth-only laboratory and various science and technology culture experience programs run by the Creative Foundation, science museum, and government-funded research institutes, such as a giant zero gravity experience device, a science escape room, and an open stage, are operated.

In addition, ‘Science Talk Talk’ will utilize the main stage to run lectures and performance programs such as lectures by star scientists, science musicals, and science magic concerts throughout the event period.

Additional events include an open science tour of Daedeok Special District Research Institute, Science Village Eoullim Madang, Science Character Parade, and Daejeon Museum of Art Art Free Market Zone. Mayor Lee Jang-woo said, “The Korea Science Festival, a national event, will be held in the science city of Daejeon for two consecutive years for the first time in a non-metropolitan area.
