The Gyeonggi Provincial Museum of the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation has been operating the ‘2024 Museum University’ since April 23.

Gyeonggi Provincial Museum University is an educational program for adults where they learn various topics of history and culture from the best experts in the field, and is conducted in collaboration with the History and Culture Research Institute of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

The lecture for the first half of 2024 is ‘Exchange of Eastern and Western Civilizations (Grassland Road, Silk Road, Sea Road)’, which covers ▲Grassland and Desert ▲Silk Road and Oasis Tribes ▲Xianbei and Tuscany ▲Sogdians and Silk Road ▲Uyghur Empire and Silk Road ▲Pax Mongolia and Great Britain A total of 10 sessions will be held, including the Age of Travel ▲Ancient Maritime Transportation Routes ▲Medieval Maritime Transportation Routes ▲Academic Field Trip: Gyeonggi Region ▲Song Yuan Ming and Qing Dynasty Maritime Transportation Routes.

In this lecture, we will examine the history of countries and regions that contributed to the exchange of Eastern and Western civilizations through war and trade throughout human history. Through this, we strengthen the ability to think proactively in a globalized future society and strengthen the geographical and historical areas of Central Eurasia such as Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Turkye, and Southeast Asia such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India. It is meaningful in accumulating knowledge such as characteristics.

The instructors are top experts in related fields, including Associate Professor Cho Bok-hyun of Kyunghee University’s Humanitas College and Jeong Il-kyo, HK Research Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, who will tell interesting historical stories in each lecture.

The 2024 Gyeonggi Provincial Museum University’s ‘Exchange of Eastern and Western Civilizations (Grassland Road, Silk Road, Sea Road)’ will be held at the Gyeonggi Provincial Museum auditorium every Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. from April 23 to June 25.
