The Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation will hold the ‘2nd Gyeonggi GPS (Gender Policy Seminar)’ at the foundation’s conference room on the 25th to discuss the development direction of the Gyeonggi-do metropolitan child care support center in accordance with the promotion of childcare integration.

At this day’s event, based on the research results, the direction of development of metropolitan child care comprehensive support centers according to the future integration of kindergartens in Gyeonggi Province will be discussed with Gyeonggi-do and provincial education office officials, provincial council members, and child care comprehensive support center officials.

Following the presentation by Kim Mi-jeong, a researcher at the Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation, the panelists were Kim Eun-seol, head of the Infant and Toddler Education and Childcare Integrated Promotion and Support Group at the Childcare Policy Research Institute, Kim Mi-jeong, president of the National Council of City and Provincial Child Care Support Centers, Kim Eun-hee, representative of the Gyeonggi region of the National City, County and District Child Care Comprehensive Support Center Council, and Choi Hyo-sook of Gyeonggi Province. Participating in the event will be the chairman of the Special Committee on Childcare Integration of the National Assembly, Kang Eun-ha, secretary of the Early Childhood Education Department at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, and Kim Nam-soo, head of the Gyeonggi Provincial Childcare Policy and Childcare Policy Team. The chair will be Kim Hye-geum, a professor in the Department of Health and Childcare Counseling at Dongnam Health University.

As the management system for infant care and education has been unified with the Ministry of Education through the revision of the Government Organization Act, discussions on the integration of kindergartens are expected to begin in earnest at the metropolitan local government level starting this year. Accordingly, the foundation is pursuing research to propose ways to develop metropolitan child care comprehensive support centers among child care comprehensive support centers, which are core institutions for daycare support and family childcare support.

Kim Hye-soon, CEO of Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Foundation, said, “I hope that through active discussions among key stakeholders at this Gyeonggi GPS, the desirable development direction of Gyeonggi-do Childcare Support Center will be discussed and that Gyeonggi-do will contribute to becoming the most successful childcare integration model for the happiness of infants and toddlers.” “He said.
