At the awards ceremony held at the Korea Press Center in Seoul on the 23rd, hosted by the Korea Consumers Association, Boseong Green Tea was recognized as a regional specialty representing Korea and for its significant contribution to regional development.

The Korea Prestigious Luxury Goods Awards are selected through expert management performance evaluations and consumer brand awareness surveys regarding the strategy, system, and management of each brand for products that represent Korea, lead the market, and have built a reputation.

Boseong Green Tea was registered as the first geographical indication in the field of agricultural products in 2002, receiving recognition for its history and excellent quality. Since 2009, Boseong-gun has acquired international organic certification from the United States (USDA), Europe (EU), and Japan (JAS) to produce safe food trusted by consumers, and has established itself as a luxury brand representing Korea through strict quality control. In addition, it was designated as an excellent industrial special zone in recognition of its operational performance in attracting companies linked to green tea, increasing residents’ income, and revitalizing the local economy, and received the Prime Minister’s group commendation in 2012, 2014, and 2019, and was awarded the ‘Boseong Traditional Tea Farming’ in 2018. ‘System’ was designated as Nationally Important Agricultural Heritage No. 11 and recognized for its historicity and excellence.

Boseong County Mayor Kim Cheol-woo said, “This year, we exported 6,000 units of three types of blended teas to Singapore and 1.8 tons of powdered green tea to Ireland.” He added, “Boseong green tea, which has been recognized as a famous luxury product for 10 years, has spread beyond Korea and around the world. “We will also build competitiveness in overseas markets so that we can establish ourselves as a representative luxury brand.”

Meanwhile, Boseong-gun will hold the Boseong Dahyang Grand Festival for five days from May 3rd to 7th under the theme of ‘The Temptation of Thousand Years of Tea, Boseong’s Proposal’, as well as Boseong-gun Citizen’s Day, Seopyeonje Boseongsori Festival, Illimsan Azalea Cultural Event, It is planned to be a grand festival incorporating Children’s Day, the Green Tea Marathon, the National Yacht Competition’s daily concert, and a drone light show.
