The Korean multiple launch rocket (MLRS) ‘Chunmu’ is expected to be additionally exported to Poland in the amount of $1.6 billion (approximately 2.2 trillion won).

The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 23rd that about 20 members of the Korean delegation, including Poland’s Vice Minister of Defense Paweu Weida, will observe the test firing of the Polish customized Cheonmu ‘Homar-K’ at the Anheung Shooting Range of the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) in Taean, South Chungcheong Province on the 24th. This test firing will be carried out using the Cheonmu launch system developed by Hanwha Aerospace on a Polish-produced military vehicle. It is reported that Poland is likely to sign an additional introduction contract on site after the test firing.

Poland signed a basic contract for the introduction of 288 Cheonmu units in 2022 and signed the first contract for 218 units. It is said that there is a high possibility that the remaining export contract worth $1.6 billion for the remaining 70 vehicles will be concluded this time. The exact quantity may change during the export process. Poland is likely to request policy and financial support from Korea.

Vice Minister Bayda visited Minister of National Defense Shin Won-sik at the Yongsan Ministry of National Defense building on the afternoon of the 23rd and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the defense and defense industry between the two countries. The Ministry of National Defense said, “At this meeting, both sides agreed to continue to develop defense cooperation in areas such as weapons system cross-training, military education, and cyber security.” Minister Shin said, “The two countries have become key partners in July 2022 when they signed a contract worth $44.2 billion for the K2 tank, K9 self-propelled howitzer, FA-50 fighter jet, and Chunmu multiple rocket launcher,” adding, “Korean weapons systems are the mainstay of Poland’s national defense.” “We will continue to provide support to make it happen.”
