(Nuri Ilbo) Gyeongbuk Provincial Council member Hwang Jae-cheol (Yeongdeok, People Power Party) proposed the ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Energy Ordinance Partial Amendment Ordinance’ at the 346th extraordinary session.

The purpose of this ordinance is to establish an institutional basis for the installation and operation of the ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Energy Industry Convergence Complex Comprehensive Support Center’, which is scheduled to be completed in Yeongdeok-gun in August 2024, in order to professionally support the ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Energy Industry Convergence Complex’. .

For reference, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Energy Industry Convergence Complex was designated by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in August 2020 to develop into a base for the domestic wind power industry in accordance with the ‘Energy Convergence Complex Act’ and is currently pursuing a construction project.

In the ordinance, a new provision was made regarding the establishment of a comprehensive support center for systematic support of the energy industry convergence complex, and the functions of the support center, such as management and operation of the energy industry convergence complex, and support for attracting and nurturing energy-related companies and research institutes, were expanded. New provisions were established with specific examples of relevant matters, and matters regarding entrustment of operation to funders, contributing organizations, non-profit corporations, etc. were specified for the efficient operation of the support center.

Rep. Hwang Jae-cheol, who proposed the ordinance, said, “We hope that the Comprehensive Support Center will play its role as a core support organization to systematically support the creation of a wind power industry specialized cluster.” “By being well established and attracting many related companies, we hope that the entire local economy will be revived by fostering the local energy industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, this ordinance passed the review of the Planning and Economy Committee of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council on April 23 and is scheduled to be finalized at the plenary session on May 3.
