The investigation agency broke the silence and summoned the suspect of ‘Chae Sang-byeong’s external pressure on the investigation…’ Special investigation variables still remain

The Corruption Investigation Office, which is investigating suspicions of ‘external pressure on the investigation of the Chae Sang-byeong case’, has begun the process of summoning key suspects.

However, the variable is whether or not the political world handles the ‘Special Prosecutor Chae Sang-byeong Act’.

The Corruption Investigation Office’s position is that it has no time to consider the special investigation situation.

The High-ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Office broke its long silence and began a full-scale investigation into the ‘suspicion of external pressure to investigate the death of Chae Sang-byeong in the line of duty.’

Now that we have completed all digital forensic procedures for the seized items, we have begun the next procedure, which is to summon key suspects.

First, it was found that the Corruption Investigation Office notified Yoo Jae-eun, the Ministry of Defense’s legal affairs manager, and Park Gyeong-hoon, former acting head of the Ministry of Defense’s investigation headquarters, of their attendance.

Currently, the Corruption Investigation Office is coordinating the summons schedule with the two people, but if the summons schedule is made public in advance, the attendance schedule may be rescheduled or the investigation may be affected, so it is difficult to confirm specific details.

This is the first time that the Corruption Investigation Office has summoned a suspect in connection with this case, other than former Australian Ambassador Lee Jong-seop, who voluntarily appeared earlier.

It is suspected that Legal Affairs Manager Yoo contacted Park Jeong-hoon, the head of the Marine Corps investigation team at the time while investigating the Chae Sang-byeong case, in August last year and ordered him to reduce the investigation target to “those who were directly at fault.”

Former Acting Director Park was in charge of the investigation headquarters that reviewed the investigation records recovered from the Gyeongbuk Police Agency, and the number of suspects, originally eight, was drastically reduced to two after the review.

The Corruption Investigation Office is belatedly speeding up the investigation by summoning the suspect three months after the search and seizure, but the variable is the ‘Special Prosecutor Chae Sang-byeong Act’.

Currently, the opposition party’s position is that it will definitely pass the Special Prosecutor Act within the 21st National Assembly.

However, the Corruption Investigation Office said, “It is an urgent situation to proceed according to the investigation schedule and plan,” and “there is not much room to consider the special investigation situation.”
