South Chungcheong Province takes the lead in discovering future growth engines with Saemaul spirit < Culture < Chungnam < Nationwide < Text of article

(Chungnam = International News) Reporter Park Eui-gyu = South Chungcheong Province Governor Kim Tae-heum attended the ’14th Saemaeul Day Commemoration Ceremony and Provincial President Inauguration Ceremony’ held at the main auditorium of the Provincial Office Culture and Arts Center on the 24th.

This event, which was held with over 600 people in attendance, including Governor Kim, the provincial chairman, provincial council members, and Chungcheongnam-do Saemaeul Association, was held in the following order: awarding a plaque of merit to the outgoing president, inauguration ceremony for the new president Nak-gu Seong, greetings from the new provincial president, and a congratulatory performance.

Chungcheongnam-do Saemaeul Association is an organization established to contribute to regional development based on diligence, self-help, and cooperation and to display the spirit of Chungcheongnam-do through volunteer work. The number of members in the province is 193,996.

The main projects are △support for scholarships for children of Saemaul leaders, △support for practical Saemaul leader training projects, △support for Saemaul Movement international cooperation projects, and △care activities for the elderly living alone.

At this event, Governor Kim said, “The Chungnam Saemaeul Association is becoming a social problem solver by going beyond volunteer work and providing one-on-one care for seniors living alone, and is playing a big role in establishing a happy community by taking care of welfare blind spots.” In order to spread the Saemaul Movement and strengthen exchanges in the Philippines and other countries, we have increased the international project budget by 30% compared to last year, so we will take the lead in discovering new growth engines by expanding Korea’s external exchanges with the Saemaul spirit as the focal point.”
