The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education announced on the 25th that it had allocated 238.1 billion won in this year’s first supplementary budget.

If this supplementary budget is passed by the Provincial Council, this year’s budget for the Provincial Office of Education will be KRW 4.209 trillion, a 6.0% increase from the original (KRW 3.9709 trillion).

According to the Provincial Office of Education, the revenue resources are 124.6 billion won in central government transfer income such as ordinary and special grants, 52.7 billion won in local government transfer income, 600 million won in other transfer income, 1.1 billion won in own income, 55.7 billion won in other income such as net world surplus, and North-South educational exchange and cooperation fund. The amount transferred to the fund upon expiration of the period of existence is 3.4 billion won.

The Provincial Office of Education reported that the expenditure budget mainly reflected national tasks such as Neulbom School and digital education and pledged projects such as improving academic ability.

This year’s first supplementary budget for the Gangwon Office of Education will be confirmed through preliminary review by the Education Committee of the 328th Provincial Council, which begins on the 8th of next month, and comprehensive review by the Budget and Settlement Special Committee, followed by deliberation and resolution at the plenary session.

Lim Jae-wook, head of the budget division at the Provincial Office of Education, said, “This supplementary budget focused on investment in preparation for future educational changes and innovations, such as the stable promotion of national tasks and Gangwon education policies and digital-based education,” and added, “All students can grow in a better educational environment.” “I will do my best to make it happen,” he said.
