[경인매일=최승곤기자] Ahn Gye-il (People Power Party, Seongnam 7), Chairman of the Safety Administration Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, attended the opening ceremony of the Metropolitan Materials Center and the donation ceremony of fire suppression equipment to Myanmar and Sri Lanka held at the Bucheon Fire Station Ojeong 119 Safety Center on the 24th and delivered words of encouragement. He asked the Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the largest in Korea, to do its best to ensure the safety of the residents as well as the international community.

Chairperson Ahn Gye-il said, “With the opening of this metropolitan material center, we have been able to create a safer Gyeonggi-do for residents through rapid on-site response and innovative changes in the supply of disaster response supplies,” adding, “Through the donation of fire suppression equipment to developing countries, the two countries’ firefighting and “I hope that the safety environment will improve and that exchanges and cooperation will take place in various fields,” he said, requesting the ambassadors of both countries.

The metropolitan material center is set up at 459㎡ in Ojeong-gu, Bucheon-si and provides fire extinguishing products such as foam fire extinguishing agent, expanded vermiculite, dried sand, infectious disease response products, oil absorbent cloth, oil fence, etc. to prevent environmental pollution that may occur during disaster response. It plays a role in quickly supplying necessary items to various disaster sites by stockpiling them.

In addition, the event also included a donation ceremony for 1,173 pieces of four types of fire suppression equipment, including 736 pieces of fire retardant clothing and 156 pieces of fire retardant gloves, to ensure the safety of firefighters in Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Chairman Ahn Gye-il and Safety and Administration Committee member Kyung-hyun Yoo (Democratic Party of Korea) also held a donation ceremony. The regional material center, which can stockpile disaster response supplies in the northern Gyeonggi region, is scheduled to be completed in Yeoncheon at the end of this year with a building area of ​​400㎡, and will continue to provide humanitarian support to developing countries through free transfer of disused firefighting equipment.
