Chemico Advanced Materials received the Korea Packaging Technology Society President’s Award at the ‘Korea Packaging Daejeon’

Chemico Advanced Materials (CEO Kim Hyo-sik) announced on the 25th that it received the ‘Korea Packaging Technology Society Chairman’s Award’ for its high-magnification foamed PP food container technology at the recently held 2024 Korea Packaging Competition ‘Korea Star Awards’.

The 2024 Korea Packaging Daejeon is an event hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Packaging Technology Center of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. It will be held at KINTEX in Ilsan until the 26th.

This event was designed to increase the pride of workers in the packaging industry as a government award for excellent technology and contributors to industrial development in the packaging industry. It has been in operation since 2007 with the purpose of spreading the atmosphere of technological innovation and encouraging motivation for technological development through sharing of the latest technology.

Chemico Advanced Materials said at this event that it won the ‘Korea Packaging Technology Society Chairman’s Award’ for its high-magnification foamed PP food container technology that reduces plastic usage at the source.

According to the company, expanded PS (polystyrene) is banned around the world due to recycling and environmental hormone issues. To replace this, Chemico Advanced Materials is a company that has developed a technology for high-magnification physical foaming of polypropylene (PP), which is known to be suitable for food containers, and has received green technology certification. Products produced with this technology can reduce plastic usage by an average of 35% and carbon emissions by about 24% compared to existing PP products. It has been supplied as a material for GS convenience store lunch box containers since 2023, and leading food companies are considering introducing it, a company official said.
