Seogwipo City, full-fledged operation of intensive safety inspection for Korea’s safety transition in 2024

[제주교통복지신문 김현석 기자] On the 25th, the mayor of Seogwipo conducted a joint safety inspection with private experts on Jungmun Bridge 2 (Type 2 facility) in accordance with the Republic of Korea’s safety transition in 2024 and the operation of the intensive safety inspection period.

In the public-private joint inspection on this day, advisory members of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Safety Management Advisory Group and departments in charge of facilities such as the Safety Management Department and Construction Department participated to determine whether damage or cracks occurred in the bridge supports, abutments, and piers, and whether scour or settlement occurred in the bridge foundation. Main inspection was carried out.

Meanwhile, Seogwipo City this year implemented the ‘Resident Inspection Facility Application System’ where residents directly apply for facilities that require inspection, and a total of 16 locations, including apartments and community centers, were reflected in the inspection targets, and public-private inspections were conducted for a total of 135 locations during the inspection period. We plan to pursue joint safety inspections.

In addition, Seogwipo City plans to continue to conduct public-private joint safety inspections in which group heads and vice-presidents directly participate in order to transition to Korea’s safety system in 2024, effectively operate the intensive safety inspection period, and spread safety culture in the region.

Regarding the points raised during this safety inspection, minor matters will be corrected immediately on site, and facilities requiring repair or reinforcement will be dealt with promptly using the available resources of the management body and public institutions as necessary, which may take a long time. We plan to thoroughly manage the history of any issues that arise until action is completed.

A Seogwipo City official said, “We will do our best to create an environment where Seogwipo citizens can enjoy a safe life through substantial safety inspections and the spread of autonomous safety inspection culture during the intensive safety inspection period.”
