South Jeolla Province Governor Kim Young-rok visited the Danish livestock waste biogas facility, which has the world’s largest biogas facility and excellent technology, and explored ways to expand biogas facilities, achieve carbon neutrality, and reduce greenhouse gases.

Governor Kim inspected the advanced livestock manure biogas facility of SBS (Sustainable Bio Solutions) located in Kliplev, Denmark, on the 24th (local time).

This is to move away from processing livestock manure into compost and liquid fertilizer and convert it into energy, and find ways to achieve carbon neutrality and reduce greenhouse gases in the livestock sector.

Governor Kim Young-rok intensively examined biogas facilities, energy production, carbon reduction effects, and odor reduction facilities at the site that day.

The livestock manure biogas facility not only produces gas, but also strives to coexist with local residents by converting the produced gas into electricity and supplying waste heat from power generation to nearby residents.

After visiting the facility, Governor Kim Young-rok said, “We will achieve carbon neutrality and come up with a plan for coexistence with local residents by moving away from the method of processing livestock waste that focuses on compost and liquid fertilizer and converting it to a biogas facility.” He added, “We will install a thorough odor prevention facility to remove livestock waste.” “We will make it an essential facility for rural areas in the Jeollanam-do region, including producing energy.”
