Regarding the second working meeting between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Representative Lee Jae-myung to prepare for the summit meeting, the Democratic Party of Korea said, “It is disappointing that the President’s Office did not express its review opinion on the agenda presented at the last meeting.”

Today’s second working meeting was held privately for about 40 minutes at the National Assembly with the participation of the President’s Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Hong Cheol-ho and Political Affairs Secretary Cha Soon-oh, and the Democratic Party’s Chief of Staff Cheon Jun-ho and Political Planning Director Kwon Hyuk-ki.

After the meeting, Director Cheon met with reporters and said, “I wish the President’s Office had presented a review opinion on the agenda we proposed to make the meeting fruitful.”

When asked, “What agenda did you present to the President’s Office?” Director Cheon said it was not appropriate to give details, but replied, “I was told that it had been reported to the President.”

Regarding the current position of the President’s Office, he said, “There is no specific agenda, and the position is to discuss all agenda items.”

It was reported that the Democratic Party previously demanded at the first working meeting to accept the general election pledge of providing 250,000 won in subsidies to all citizens and the ‘Special Prosecution Act on Suspicion of External Pressure in the Death of Corporal Chae’.

Recently, some in the Democratic Party are increasing the level of pressure by re-promoting bills that were abolished due to the presidential veto, such as the three broadcasting laws, and calling for the resignation of Ryu Hee-rim, chairman of the Korea Communications Standards Commission.

The Democratic Party plans to discuss the results of today’s second working meeting with its leadership, decide on a response policy, and then convey the party’s position to the President’s Office.

The schedule for the third working meeting between the two sides has not yet been confirmed.
