‘Chungnam Creative Studio’ to support artists opens in Taean Enterprise City

The creative studio is equipped with 9 professional studios (70.4㎡ each), a community building (92.71㎡), an exhibition building (213㎡), and parking facilities.

The province plans to help artists satisfy their creative desires through creative studios, and to foster and support capable and creative artists.

Specifically, it provides support for creative expenses for artists, holds exhibitions, matches experts, and exchanges domestic and international residencies.

In addition to the creative activities of resident artists, it is operated as a participatory arts institution that provides art education services.

In accordance with the business agreement signed between the province and Hyundai Urban Development in 2022, Hyundai Urban Development built all of the creative studio facilities, and the province will operate the facilities free of charge for 20 years.

In the previously held contest for resident artists, 60 people applied, and through portfolio and interview screening, 10 contemporary artists with artistic quality and experimentation were selected.

Do explained that they are artists of a variety of genres, including paintings, sculptures, prints, three-dimensional installations, and media videos, and that their specialty is that they cover multidisciplinary works rather than just one genre.

To commemorate the opening, a showcase exhibition will be held to preview the creative activities of the resident artists, showcasing about 30 works.

Provincial Governor Kim Ki-young said, “As a creative institution that produces world-class artists, we will develop it into a cultural and artistic attraction that enhances regional development and quality.”
