‘Biyun’ Kim Do-eup “I will not run for floor leader”… Will ‘Chinyun’ Lee Cheol-gyu run alone?

Rep. Kim Do-eup, who was one of the leading candidates for the People Power Party’s next floor leader, announced that he would not run.

Rep. Kim said in a press release this afternoon, “We are informing you because we have received many inquiries. “I am not running for floor leader,” he said.

Rep. Kim of Busan’s Gangseo constituency was elected to the 4th term in this general election and has been considered a candidate for the floor leader of the ‘Bi Yoon-seok group’.

Yesterday, at a gathering of elected officials in the Busan region, some attendees encouraged him to run for floor leader, but Rep. Kim reportedly indicated that he would think more about it.

As a result, there is speculation within the party that Rep. Lee Cheol-gyu, a member of the pro-Yoon Seok faction, may run as a sole candidate for floor leader.

To date, Rep. Lee is the only one who has expressed his intention to run for floor leader.

In a media interview yesterday, Rep. Lee said, “I have not lived a life of hesitation when (the party) faces difficulties of one kind or another,” and added, “I will decide whether to be a player who plays baduk or a helper who helps the party behind the scenes.” It has been revealed.

There are mixed opinions in favor and against within the party.

An elected representative from the Yeongnam region expressed his support by saying, “It is peripheral to say that some people can’t do it because they are ‘Jjinyun,’ and that others can’t do it because they are from the metropolitan area.” He added, “He must be someone who can coordinate and demonstrate leadership so that the party and government can move together.”

On the other hand, Park Jeong-hoon, elected representative of the People Power Party of Songpa-gap, Seoul, posted on his personal SNS yesterday, “The mood among lawmakers in the metropolitan area is negative regarding Rep. Lee Cheol-gyu taking over as the first floor leader of the 22nd National Assembly,” and added, “He is an outstanding person, but he cannot be free from responsibility for the crushing election defeat.” He publicly opposed it, saying, “It is difficult to play a role.”
